13.2 Independent events

AQA Edexcel OCR A OCR B (MEI)
When one event does not affect the outcome of another event, the events are said to be independent.

For example, flipping a coin and rolling 6 on a dice are independent events.

For independent events:

P(A and B)=P(AB)=P(A)×P(B)P(A~\text{and}~B) = P(A∩B) = P(A)×P(B)
