18.8 Connected particles

If a system involves motion of more than one particle, the particles may be considered separately.

If all parts of the system are moving in the same stright line, then the whole system can be treated as a single particle.

Particles need to remain in contact, or be connected by an inextensible rod or string to be considered a single particle.
