Vector quantities have both magnitude and direction, and can be positive or negative.
- Displacement: Distance in a particular direction
- Velocity: Rate of change of displacement (speed in a particular direction)
- Acceleration: Rate of change of velocity
- Deceleration: Negative acceleration
- Force/weight: Push or pull in a certain direction
Scalar quantities have magnitude only and are always positive.
- Distance: measurement of length
- Speed: measurement of how fast something moves
- Time: measurement of the elapse of an event
- Mass: measurement of the amount of matter in an object
