Understand and use the laws of indices for all rational exponents.

• $a^m × a^n = a^{m+n}$
• $a^m ÷ a^n = a^{m−n}$
• $(a^m)^n = a^{mn}$

The equivalence of $a^{\frac{m}{n}}$ and $\sqrt[n]{a^m}$ should be known.
